Robert Francis is best known for his volumes of poetry and his numerous contributions to journals and magazines. His first book, Stand With Me Here, was published in The last book to be published during his lifetime was Traveling in Amherst: A Poet's Journal (). Other writings include The Sound I Listened For (), Orb Weavers (), Like Ghosts of Eagles (), and Butterhill (). Settling first in Buckinghamshire and then in Herefordshire, he cultivated the friendship of a number of English poets. Composing a few new poems and selecting others written at Derry and elsewhere, Frost prepared a volume for publication. Mrs. Alfred Nutt of London brought out the first book, A .
We might think — perhaps we should hope — that by now there would be no need for further study of Robert Frost's position as a New England poet. For over half a century, amid wide-ranging discussion of this renowned author, one of the few commonly accepted premises has been that he was indeed "a New England poet, perhaps the New England.
